Ward originally got into search over 10 years ago at St. Jude Medical. He achieved 100% increase in the number of website visitors and a top ten ranking for targeted terms on SJM.com. Ward then spent almost 2 year doing search consulting for Findlaw, a Thomson Reuters company. He had the dubious honor of speaking personally to over 500 attorneys about search marketing opportunities for their law firms. He also trained FindLaw customers, sales consultants, account managers, writers, editors and designers on search engine marketing best practices. Next he served as a subject-matter expert in the area of web metrics, search marketing and social media to Medtronic marketers in the U.S., Europe, and Australia.
Ward is now a Principal Interactive Strategist at Medtronic Neuromodulation. Medtronic Neuromodulation products 
include neurostimulation systems and implantable drug delivery systems for chronic pain, common movement disorders, and urologic and gastrointestinal disorders – sounds fun huh?
