For this month’s MnSearch event, we are focusing on sharing insights and advice for creating a win-win agency/client relationship.
So if that sounds interesting to you, please join us for this month’s event on May 31st to listen to an agency partner and client discuss how to cultivate, build, nurture these critical relationships.
And prior to the event, we want to help you get to know a little bit about one of our speakers. So keep reading to learn about our speaker from the agency side coming up on at the end of the month, Hannah Kaeter of Edina Realty.
1. How did you first hear about MnSearch?
I can’t recall exactly how I first learned about it, but I attended the 2016 Summit event. I found it to be a really valuable conference that covered many areas of my work as well as a fun group to interact with, so I joined a few monthly events with our agency partner, Augurian, and then signed up for a membership.
2. What can attendees expect to take away from your session on the 31st of May?
Tips on getting the most out of your agency relationship, how that can help you improve your own career, as well as a few tools and ideas you can consider implementing into your digital marketing strategy.
3. What is the biggest mistake that you still see organizations making in digital marketing?
I have a few that I see frequently:
A. Reporting on the “wrong” metrics – positive numbers only really matter if they’re helping you to achieve your business goals.
B. Thinking that there is always a correct answer. Sometimes in the world of digital marketing, which is constantly evolving, the only right and truthful answer is “I don’t know, but let’s test it and find out.”
C. Relying on a 3rd party to solve problems in isolation. Agencies and partners are great, but they don’t have your internal perspective, and it’s teamwork that helps everyone achieve success.
4. What career advice would you offer to digital marketers today?
Never stop learning. I think what makes digital so exciting is the constant number of new tools, techniques, and ideas to try. So find about all of them, whether it’s through conferences, email subscriptions or networking events – and while we’re on that note, don’t think of “networking” as a four letter word (as I often did early in my career); with a shared industry and projects you’re working on to discuss, small talk gets a lot bigger.
5. Besides digital marketing, what is one topic of discussion that you could talk about for hours on end?
Kansas basketball (rock chalk Jayhawk!) and old houses.
6. What is the best part about working at Edina Realty?
The best part about working for Edina Realty is my team and the openness to innovation in the digital space. Being given (almost) free reign to try new ideas and tactics keeps my job interesting and provides the company with new ways to achieve success.
7. Where is your favorite spot to grab drinks in the Twin Cities?
Town Hall Tap is my favorite local neighborhood spot, but I also love checking out the brewery scene and all the new places constantly opening in Minneapolis.
